THE CAPITAL ROOTS ACADEMY

PROGRAMS

More than one way to learn through leverage, logic, and movement.
The Capital Roots Academy creates small group experiences built around Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, practical problem solving, movement, and hands on learning. Some programs focus on self defense. Others bring parents and children together on the mat. Our STEM and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu programs connect science and engineering concepts with physical movement.
Each program is different, but they all come from the same idea.
Leverage. Logic. Learning.

Women’s Self-Defense

Practical skills. Real principles. No experience required.
Our women’s self defense sessions use principles from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to teach practical ways to create space, maintain balance, control distance, escape common situations, and respond with purpose.
The sessions are designed for beginners and taught in a supportive small group setting. Participants work through realistic situations with a partner while learning why the movements work instead of simply memorizing techniques.
Each workshop stands on its own. Different techniques, situations, and principles can be introduced from one session to the next, so someone can attend one workshop or return for additional sessions to build a broader foundation.
All Capital Roots programs are intentionally small group experiences so participants receive more coaching, safer partner work, and more individual attention.

Parent + Child
Jiu-Jitsu

Learn together. Move together. Solve problems together.
These sessions put parents and children on the mat together.
Using age appropriate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu games and challenges, families explore balance, leverage, movement, teamwork, and problem solving while learning useful grappling and self defense concepts.
The goal is not to recreate a traditional martial arts class. Parents participate alongside their children, both get to experiment, and families leave with skills and games they can continue practicing together.
Each session stands on its own, with new challenges and techniques introduced at future events.
All Capital Roots programs are intentionally small group experiences so participants receive more coaching, safer partner work, and more individual attention.

STEM + Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Where the mat becomes the laboratory.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is full of science.
Why does changing an angle make someone easier to move? Why does a longer lever create more force? How do balance, friction, base, center of mass, and mechanical advantage change what happens on the mat?
The signature Capital Roots Academy experience combines hands-on STEM learning with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction so students can explore a scientific idea and then experience that same principle through movement.
Students do not simply hear about leverage. They build, test, measure, move, and apply it.
The goal is to connect what happens at the worktable with what happens on the mat.
All Capital Roots programs are intentionally small group experiences so participants receive more coaching, safer partner work, and more individual attention.

Small by Design

Capital Roots programs intentionally keep enrollment limited.
Smaller groups create more time for coaching, questions, safer partner work, and individual attention. Participants are not simply moving through stations or following along in a large crowd. They are learning directly with an instructor and have time to understand what they are doing and why it works.
